Final Leap, The last four days

This will be my final post on this blog. I really don't know how to feel. It's truly been an experience.

Tuesday- On this day, I began looking up immunization records for Rota children. Checking all their IDs took quite a while. For the Rota project we check for 3 different vaccinations, which the CDC require.

Wednesday- More CIRTS. Going through immunization records by hand is interesting work. Out of brain monotony, I began looking for patterns, and realized just how bad CT's immunization records were.This was confirmed the next day.

Thursday- Uh oh, CIRTS went rogue on us, but luckily I had checked most of the kids by then, so I did a bit of analytical work, looking at vaccination dates, and doses and I would make a happy face on the review form if it was complete, and a sad face if it wasn't.

Friday- My last day! Bekah made me a sign that I completely missed. It would've even brushed my head! It was an amazing sign. Everybody went out to eat lunch at the carts and get a cupcake since it was my last day. I finished my immunization records checking also, but the most important thing I learned today was that a freshly cut tomato with a bit of salt and pepper added from a shaker is delicious.

Final Week??

Still a shock. I'm surprised it's gone by so fast! Friday, I got set up with CITRIX to do some id checking for the rota project. There's so many projects going on, it's hard to keep up! Vincent came in today on Monday. He's got a moderately heavy Spanish accent, but I would have never been able to tell. He's pretty cool, and Alex seems to have taken a liking to him, must be his Spanishness. More CITRIX and stalking!

Slow Slow Week

Time to cover 4 days! I can't believe there's about a week of internship left. What is this.

Monday- Back to work! Listened to some interview phone calls, and then I was given the task of stalking. Yep, we had a lot of letters returned and needed to find their addresses and stuff. It was surprisingly fun, but time consuming....I will not be a stalker....I swear

Tuesday- MORE STALKING! Oh dear, why does it take so long to find these people? On the side, we've been sending letters, getting database people checked, learning more about access, and its awesome convenience, and much more.

Wednesday- OK, this is where the fun begins...not really, I've been stalking people more now, it's amazing how good one can get at it if done enough...I'm glad to say I finally managed to locate or um..dislocate every person who's letter got returned! 

Thursday- Working with mailmerge, getting those letters sent, learning queries, making labels, stamping envelopes, and getting stuck in traffic trying to get back to the office. Tomorrow Alex says she'll show me CIRTS and how all the gimmicks work! Lots of database stuff, I hope I'll be able to handle it ok.

Wow, have I been slacking?

I seem to have went three days without blogging, uh oh! Maybe I should go through each day:

Wednesday: Yup, we started doing letters again. It seems like we're sending hundreds of letters to all these study participants (which...we are). I've gotten so good at folding and sealing letters, it's kind of ridiculous.

Thursday: Yes, you guessed it, MORE LETTERS. So many people...and a lot of them have really funny names, but I'm not allowed to share any. Bekah and I did get our temporary IDs so now we can enter most of the medical campus, mwahaha...not that that would allow me to do anything besides access the other office and pediatrics hallway.

Friday: Letters...AGAIN!? Ok, today only had three so it was ok. Went to visit the ED again to drop off stool hats (interesting little things) and copy forms. I swear the copier wanted to play tricks on me. I copied the first batch double sided, and the second should have been double sided, too. Maybe he was lonely. Also spent the afternoon fixing forms and going over medical records of hospitalized children. How does someone mistake '88' for '65'?
